Submissions for the 2022 Sawdust City Fright Fest

Hello Indie Horror Fans!

We’d like to announce that submissions for the 2022 Sawdust City Fright Fest are opened on FilmFreeway March 7th, 2022 through June 1st, 2022 and we will send notifications for selected films on August 1st. All submissions must be Horror. As the Horror genre is quite broad and touches on so many other genres, there is a lot of leeway. All non-horror submissions will be disqualified. Wisconsin based or connected films are preferred, but non-Wisconsin films are welcome. Please do let us know your films Wisconsin connection if you are submitting as a Wisconsin film.

The Sawdust City Fright Fest is dedicated to building on our love of horror and our years of experience in and around the genre. We want to promote a festival and environment that would primarily benefit independent filmmakers, with emphasis on, but not limited to, Wisconsin Independent Horror Filmmakers, and the theater(s) which support and screen their films.

We are pleased that the Time Community Theater in Oshkosh, WI will again work closely with us for the 2022 Sawdust City Fright Fest which will be the second Saturday in October and we hope to create a safe, horror-loving community for everyone.

Welcome to the Sawdust City Fright Fest!

Please stay tuned as we continue to evolve into a safe, horror loving community for independent filmmakers and those who support them.

Our first effort as an organization is a one day, curated festival scheduled for Saturday, October 9th, 2021 at the historic Time Community Theater in beautiful downtown Oshkosh, WI. We have a diverse line up of independent horror films ready for your entertainment.

Kicking off the weekend on Friday, October 8th at 7 pm, for those as eager as us for this new festival, is the cult classic, Manos: The Hands of Fate (1966). There is no admission fee for this Friday night feature, but we encourage those attending to enjoy the concessions stand and make a small donation to the Time Community Theater, as they are a non-profit and all of their staff are volunteers.

On Saturday October 9th at 1 pm, we will begin our first of two blocks of carefully selected independent horror short films. We are expecting some filmmakers to be in attendance for a brief Q&A about their film(s) during the intermission between the blocks of shorts. Wrapping up the 2021 SCFF curated fest, will be the direct sequel to our Friday night feature, Manos Returns (2018).

Admission for the full day festival is $10 or $4 if you choose just to come Saturday evening for Manos Returns.

Check back soon for more information about this and future festival details.
