Reflecting on 5 Years of the SCFF

What’s the Sawdust City Fright Fest All About?

Sawdust City Fright Fest is a thrilling indie horror film festival held at the Time Community Theater in downtown Oshkosh, WI—an intimate, volunteer-run venue that champions both local and wider indie horror filmmakers.

The fest began in 2021 as a curated one-day event and has since grown into a vibrant two-day celebration as well as occasional special presentations and mini-fests throughout the year. It places a special emphasis on Wisconsin-made films, while also welcoming works from around the globe. Local indie horror enthusiasts and filmmakers alike love the community-centered spirit and creative freedom the festival nurtures

Why This Festival Stands Out:

With a grassroots & local focus, our foundational commitment to Wisconsin filmmakers keeps the fest rooted in community and creative authenticity.

Because of the cozy theater experience at an historic, volunteer-run venue, our fest fosters a friendly, immersive film culture. The personal touches of live Q&As, custom giveaways, and a dedication to indie horror foster a personal connection between filmmakers and audiences.

About Mojodawn

I've been a fan of the horror genre all my life, ever since I accidentally saw the "Here's Johnny" scene from The Shining in the theater as a child. I don't consider myself a reviewer, but I do have a blog where I write my thoughts on some of the films I watch. I've been attending independent film festivals for many years and was a committee member of the North East Wisconsin (NEW) Horror Film Festival since 2016.
